When people choose to support us by fundraising for one of our projects, it is more than a gift of money. It is a gift of time, effort and a true act of kindness, which makes a world of difference to those we support.

All our supporters, volunteer fundraisers, donors, funders take time to consider what it is about a charity or a charitable project that appeals to them.

When you make a donation to Guideposts, and Guideposts projects, you'll transform the lives of people who need it the most in our local communities.

The Lights Up Memory Club is one of Guideposts community projects for people with dementia and their carers. Participants are given the chance to be creative and enjoy arts and craft, music, singing, reminiscence activities, drama and dance. It offers people a unique opportunity to spend time with other people who understand their challenges, share meaningful activities, a cup of tea, and have fun. It also give them access to a wealth of information, advice and guidance to help them live as well as possible with dementia.

Witney Lakes Golf Club have very kindly chosen Lights Up as their charitable project of the year and we have a few words from Fiona Camm about their efforts and what made them chose the project.

As the Lady Captain of Witney Lakes Golf Club, I had had to choose a charity to raise money for over the year.  I chose Lights Up, thanks to a friend of mine, who suggested the charity as she goes dancing there.  The Men's Captain Bryn Skrine agreed to raise money for the same charity.

We managed to raise the money from various raffles, a charity jar in the sports bar and charity golf competitions held throughout the year.  This money could only be raised with the help and support of all the members of the Club. As a result we raised £2,625 for Lights Up.

I attended a meeting in Carterton recently and spoke to some of the attendees, this gave me a better understanding of how much these meetings mean to them and how through art and music, memories and shared experiences can be awakened.

On behalf of everyone at Guideposts and the people who attend Lights up, we would like to say a big thank you to Fiona Camm and everyone at the Witney Lakes Golf Club for their generous gift. It will enable us to continue running this incredible project and offer invaluable support to people with memory problems and their carers in West Oxfordshire. THANK YOU
